Environmental Control
The facility is protected by
fully-redundant air
conditioning systems that
ensure our web hosting
infrastructure operates at
optimal temperatures. This
helps to eliminate problems
that occur due to
overheating of equipment.
Seismic Protection
The facility is designed to
meet or exceed seismic code,
and racks are bolted to the
floor, helping to
preserve operation in the
event of an earthquake.
Power Protection
Power protection begins with
dual electrical grid
connections from independent
substations. These
connections attach to an
internally redundant,
bypassable 250kVA UPS
system, that is connected to
a backup diesel generator
that activates in the event of
sustained power outage, and
is capable preserving
datacenter operations
indefinitely. A
manual-bypass non-dedicated
generator is available in
the event of generator
failure.
Fire Detection & Suppression
The datacenter is protected
by a VESDA™ that samples the
air continuously using
broad-spectrum light to
determine changes in air
density, this process
detects fire before smoke or
flame are detectable. In the
case of a fire FM-200 gas is
expelled into the room
removing all oxygen and
extinguishing the fire.
Should the regularly tested
detection and suppression
systems fail, an advanced
two-stage sprinkler system
provides semi-targeted
suppression capabilities.
Network & Connectivity
Connectivity
NewGen's network starts
with 2722Mbps aggregate
multi-homed connectivity
with BGP-advertised address
space and connections to
multiple carriers, including
Big Pipe, Level 3, MCI and
VIAX.
Switching
Connectivity is then
distributed to servers and
sub-networks via
enterprise-grade HP ProCurve
switches at 100Mbps.

Core network
infrastructure in monitored
and responded to 24x7 by a

Servers
NewGen's server environment is based on HP Proliant servers running Microsoft Windows server software. The servers are configured and tuned by our HP and Microsoft certified engineers and include hardware RAID for enhanced availability and data protection.

Security
Physical Security
The datacenter has been
specifically designed to
protect NewGen's
infrastructure from flood,
fire and burglary. Located
on a elevated, non-descript
floor, the datacenter is
kept away from foot traffic.
The datacenter entry is an
unmarked man-trap that
requires both keycard and
biometric authentication for
entry. Once in the facility,
each rack is locked,
preventing tampering and
theft, while restricted
areas such as core network
and routing require further
authentication. The facility
employs 24x7 security
guards, and the entire
facility is under 24x7 video
surveillance.
Technological
The perimeter of NewGen's
web hosting infrastructure
is protected by carrier
grade firewalls which are
monitored 24x7 from our
security operations center.
Shared web hosting servers
are protected by shared
firewall rules, while
software firewall and
antivirus protection runs in
real-time on each server.
Dedicated servers are
protected by each Client's
choice of firewall
protection.
